INTRODUCING CHARLOTTE

Developed by Crest Robotics and Earthbuilt Technology, Charlotte aims to advance lunar explorations and provide low-cost, low-carbon housing capabilities on Earth.

The Challenge

A Moon base is critical for further lunar exploration and deep space research, but conventional construction methods are impossible in space.

On Earth, we are experiencing a housing crisis. Traditional construction is slow, costly, and carbon-intensive.

The Solution

When Crest Robotics’ advanced capabilities are combined with Earthbuilt Technology’s extrusion and compaction systems, the result is Charlotte: a lightweight and fully autonomous spider-like robot that delivers a low-cost low-carbon construction solution.

HOW DOES CHARLOTTE WORK?

Digital craftsmanship located in Delray Beach, FL

Attached to Charlotte’s undercarriage, Earthbuilt’s extrusion system will collect readily available materials such as sand, earth and waste products like crushed brick, which are then bound in fabric and compressed to form the layers of a building.

The aim: For Charlotte to construct a 200 m² home in a single day using Earthbuilt Technology’s sustainable building system.

On the Moon we require different building machinery. Charlotte’s lightweight design allows it to fold compactly for space travel while its agile and dynamic capabilities enable rapid construction on the Lunar surface.
